Catania Fontanarossa Airport (CTA), operated by SAC (Società Aeroporto Catania), is Sicily's busiest airport, serving a mix of domestic and international routes across Europe and beyond.

Simpleway implemented an Automated Voice Announcement System covering all areas of the airport to support boarding and deboarding processes and guide passengers throughout their journey. A voice library in 8 languages ensures announcements reach both domestic and international passengers, with scripts further customized per airline so that major carriers can maintain their own messaging within the automated framework - a level of personalization that meaningfully contributes to the overall passenger experience.

A notable aspect of this deployment is its demonstrated hardware independence. During the project lifecycle, the airport's PA infrastructure was upgraded from a Bosch Praesideo system to a Biamp Vocia PA system. Simpleway's platform accommodated this transition through reconfiguration alone - no software reinstallation was required - reflecting the flexibility to evolve alongside the airport's technical infrastructure.

The implementation delivered meaningful gains across both operational and passenger-facing dimensions. Automating announcement workflows reduced the manual workload on ground operations staff, while consistent, timely, and multilingual messaging enhanced the passenger experience for domestic and international travelers alike.
